On Wednesday, I revealed my plan to publish one short story at the end of every month this year. It is now the 31st January and, as per the challenge, the first short story is now available to buy as an e-book. I am very excited. Here it is:
A year after the planet has been consumed by a fatal radiation, small outposts of the human populace battle to survive beneath its surface.
Hydra is a member of one such a tribe. Tasked to defend her new home from anything that may threaten its existence, she never counted on the appearance of an elusive group known as the Alphas. With her life in the balance once again, Hydra comes to realise that surviving may not be the miracle she thought it would be.
You can buy Futile Survival for £0.77 on amazon.co.uk, and $0.99 on amazon.com. If you are from another country, it may be possible to buy from your local amazon for the same price (but converted to your currency). I hope you enjoy it, if you buy it. Any reviews will be greatly appreciated.
As I came up with this challenge only half way through January, this story is essentially a rewrite and edit of one I wrote a while ago, so it mainly served as practice for editing and working out the publishing process. Tomorrow I start on the next one, looking forward to it. But for now, I think it is time for a short break, a cup of tea, and a good book.
